Swim team tryouts

Emma has been practicing so hard on each stroke to try out for swim team!
And an update: She tried out for the recreational, seasonal program but the coach asked
her to be on the year-round competitive team swimming 2-3 days a week for an hour!
I'm beaming with pride. She has worked hard!

And a little Dave Matthews Band and Bob Weir
to fire up your Friday. Hearing my favorite song, "The Maker,"
made it worth every cent of admission Tuesday night. Wow.
Just the second time Dave played it since 2011 and the first on his
current 25th anniversary tour! Blown away.

In June 2013, I was fortunate to meet and write about a wonderful human being and triathlete, Mohamed Lahna of Morocco. He was born without a femur in his right leg and never let it slow him down or derail his Olympic quest. Tonight, as my 7-year-old swam her heart out to make the local year-round swim team, she got to clink glasses of sparkling cider and share dinner with him, his wife and two sons and dear mutual friend, Diana Thomas, before his big departure for his own Rio adventure and the triathlon competition at the Paralympics. Proud of you, proud to know you. Thanks for inspiring us all!
