The Big House

Josh and I had a fun time in Ann Arbor, my first trip to 110,000-seat Michigan Stadium -- thus, the nickname Big House. It was the Michigan Daily student paper reunion, so Josh saw a lot of his old pals. And to think they party harder than this at Washington State. Hmm, I guess I was out covering too many 8-man football games on Friday nights and high school basketball games all winter to really experience Pullman the way most college kids do. :-)

Remembering...

Josh's late grandmother, Ruth, is on the bottom left next to her mother. Ruth died earlier this year at age 92 and was a dear woman. Much of her family here was killed in the Holocaust, aside from a couple of other siblings who got out.

Old school!

Dad holding Travis, circa 1970! Nice sideburns, papa!

Proud auntie ...

I had a great day with Travis and Frances' almost 2 1/2-year-old son, Felton! He is so smart and cute and fun to be around. He knows all the Canadian provences by their shape, so don't even try to stump him. If he sees a certain shape anywhere, he'll say, "That's not the Territories, that's Alberta." Or, he'll say, "Ontario!" "Prince Edward Island!" "Nova Scotia!" And, every single body of water is the Great Lakes, even if you tell him it's San Francisco Bay. It's really CUTE. But I'm not biased.

Hanging with Mad Dog...

It sure was fun to see a familiar baseball face on the golf course in Las Vegas, where I ran into 347-game winner Greg Maddux -- I covered his 300th victory in San Francisco in 2004.

Covering golf...

The LPGA is a blast! The No. 1 woman in the world is from Guadalajara, which made it more fun to talk to her. Eric is the photographer I work with on so many fun stories, and my golf coach and workout pal, Shooty, came out for a day to help. ... Off to Las Vegas for PGA this week, and what a nice change from baseball.
