Maya Lin open house

The kids are learning about oceans and the different zones. They had to pick an animal to research, type something up that they learned then put the animal and report in the zone they think best fits.

Emma and her pals. These girls are in for some changes with their teacher (it's a two-year looping system) switching to 3rd grade, but they could get Mr. Dodson again for 2nd/3rd. Emma also didn't get into Alameda Arts after school program for next year but Parks and Recreation has another good option and several of her friends do it. Can't believe kindergarten is almost over. Lily moves to the Pre-K building on Monday at Fuzzy Caterpillar, too! YAY!
Fun fact: I got the RARE chance to brush Lily's hair, then braided it. Felt good, though it will surely be dreadlocks again by morning.

Green fish

Emma (in orange/pink cap) passed her "green fish" at kinderswim, meaning she treaded water for five minutes, did a proper dive, torpedoed across without taking a breath, back floated and back kicked across the pool. She is thrilled and can go in the big pool all summer without an adult. Her friend Aliza is two to her right, and Max is in the other kindergarten class at Maya Lin.

Spring gardening

BACK YARD...
Flowers and basil in pots

A few new succulent additions to our old sink
Everything got moved to a sunnier spot along the fence and is doing great!
A nice tomato plant plugging along, marigolds, basil and flowers planted around it.
Snap peas on a trellis
Some herbs with fun markers

FRONT YARD ...
Things are coming along pretty well despite the drought, we save all water from pasta, turning the shower on, etc.
Operation save the blueberry plant ... took it out of the ground today, added a bunch of coffee grounds to add acid to the soil and some mulch on top to keep it moist. I elevate the barrels on bricks for proper drainage.
Two nice tomato plants beginning to fruit. Marigolds growing around.
Yellow bush beans looking down from above. ... Below, peas with a tepee trellis.
This kale has gotten SO tall I put a big cage around it to keep it upright.
Two potential pumpkins. We shall see!

Big 4-year-old sweetie

Radish harvest

I so enjoy that the girls love gardening with me.

Mother's Day corn fun

Two girls who love corn almost as much as their mom does. :)

So blessed and fortunate to have these two sweet girls.
