"O-K-C! O-K-C!"

Lily had many of her preschool pals at Fuzzy Caterpillar cheering along with her for Oklahoma City (yes, the former Seattle SuperSonics - heart still broken!) on Thursday night and the Thunder obliged because now both her parents can be on hand and not working for Pre-K graduation next Friday night.

Zoo field trip and a note from Emma's teacher, Ms. Lucy: (I had good intentions of getting to the zoo but it was a work day after all with Stephen Curry named NBA MVP).
Hi Janie,
At the end of every day students can raise their hand and honor people. Today Emma raised her hand and said "I would like to honor Mommy for trying her best to make it to the zoo." It was very sweet. I told her that she should tell you that but just in case she doesn't I wanted to make sure you heard. I hope you had a great day! I'm sure Emma will tell you all about ours. Look for pictures in the newsletter tomorrow!
  Best, Lucy

Frozen yogurt date with mom after school. Thanks to Jan and John Saunders for the fun new T-shirts.

Reunion Sunday at the NBA playoffs...

It was 19 years ago when I was a Washington State junior and Oregonian intern and this amazing guy was my mentor for the summer of 1997 in Portland. Could not have had a better example or person to learn from. Thanks for everything you have done and still do, Ken Goe! So special to see you and sit together for the Blazers-Warriors press conferences.

Swim team!

Neighbor and dear friend Sam and I are now a swim team in our matching Athleta laser beam suits (love it so much I ordered a second when it went on sale!) and orange TYR caps and even our goggles. Four months into the year, just hit the 100-mile mark (100.85) with today's 1.7-miler, just shy of my total from all of 2015. And even had two PR miles last week in 31:30.

Katie is moving back to the Bay Area!

So thrilled Katie and family are moving back to the Bay Area as her husband, Kyle, got the head basketball coaching job at University of San Francisco!

Each week, Emma's teacher sends out a newsletter and it includes a quote from each student. After spring break, this was Emma's quote after attending the press conference for Kyle at USF and seeing Katie, Conor, Jim and the boys.
Emma, “Over the break I went to San Francisco! And I found out that my cousins are moving back!"
Emma brought Skittles as she knows they're Conor's favorite.

New greenhouse

I've finally had a couple of hours to breathe through the chaos of recent months and found the motivation to plant in my new greenhouse, so this should be lots of fun to see how the plants do.
Cousin Conor saved me hundreds of dollars by bringing over about 30 bags of organic soil that he makes in Modesto, and also gifted me worm castings and compost. So thoughtful!
The girls are loving this new space.
Planted so far:
-purple tomatillos
-spinach
-purple basil
-carrots
-peacevine organic cherry tomatoes, plus other varities
-lemon cucumber
-chives
-cilantro
-peas
-peppers
-delicata squash
-Red Russian kale
-purple beans
-butternut squash
-mesclun lettuce

"Carpenter Charlie" built the greenhouse for me. He's a real character but big-hearted.
